Gotcha.
yes, I think MS Excel might be enough. As long as I don't spend mor time recording my changes than making and executing them . . .

Re: EFS Remake
I just realized I made some contradictory-sounding remarks. The PT system is designed for 20th-cent warfare and eqiupment-oriented unit production. For medieval warfare, you WOULD need to allow mixing of infy types. Also, as far as how legions were raised---they were not necessarily from one city an...

Re: Ministerial Positions
I see what you're saying about the ministers as warlords. But I think it doesn't need to be that way in the game and shouldn't be---it's historically and logically inaccurate. Vladimir set up an imperial system in which ministers had actual responsibilities (see the tutorial message about the Minist...

Re: EFS Remake
As for PT (peoples tactics). SP arty and SP flak come under the guns slot. Which to me seems strange as you now need to recruit a wholy different regiment if you want to protect your artillery or guns with flak. I also cannot see the point in limiting the variety of troops in a certain regiment, ot...

Re: EFS Remake
Kohan did the same thing, yes. Hard to imitate, I think, but a Legion should have a number of elements capable of addressing different functions. Not quite like a full American division (supposedly 10,000 men, but not often), but not as small as a Kohan Company. And of course with a twist: with huma...

Re: Ministerial Positions
Not sure what your point was meant to be, Ramidel. Everything you say is correct, and I agree that the Guard should belong to the Regent or otherwise be somehow subject to his/her influence. Unfortunately that would mean creating a fourth ministry. Great for a remake. Naturally, the exact historical...

Re: EFS Remake
Got it. I had better luck googling it, for some reason.
Anyway, looks really promising. Peoples Tactics appears to be a solid and in-depth strategic-operational game. The level of abstraction is similar to EFS.
I wonder if the sources files are available as well . . .

Re: EFS Remake
Parrot, that sounds excellent. I like the need to gain the support of the imperial bureacracy—naturally the ministries would want an emperor who would lead them well. And you definitely need to be able to fight without starting wars. That's a major failure of EFS! The infy, cav, and arty brigade typ...

Re: EFS Remake
Some good ideas. ssfsx: For me, the one thing I would change about EFS is the way that it encourages unit and engineer spamming as the way to win. Whoever is best at spamming out units and engineers is the one who wins. I would solve this by: - Greatly extending the build time of units, so that you ...

Development tools
Hey, all you developers. Do you know of any free, rudimentary version control software? I'm finding that so many parameters are now changeable (build time, cost, whether or not building is forced) that I can't keep track. Not only do I fear that I'm going in circles, but it's hard to think outside t...

Re: Modeling the fading stars
That does seem best. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas for separating the effects by system. For the "remake," great idea. What can be done is to change the default tax rate in the EFS.INI. That immediately changes the graphic, and on the next turn lowers city loyalty. Tax income stays...
