Re: Generating planet terrain
I've never tried generating random maps from scratch (I just draw them myself when needed), so I'm afraid I have no advice to offer either. I took a quick look at the editor and the files, but didn't see any obvious solutions to the problem.

Re: New Fading Suns books in Ulisses Spiele
I was asking if you had any idea where Fading Suns groups gather to find new players and the like, not about the shards (though reading through those might be a good idea too). Roll20 doesn't support Fading Suns and I don't know where else might be a good place to look for players online.

Re: New Fading Suns books in Ulisses Spiele
I've always wanted to try the Fading Suns game system. I picked up a few of the older books over the years (some a week or two ago), but I've never tried to get into a game. A couple years ago I got into D&D via Roll20 and still have most of that same group playing weekly now. Base D&D lacks...

Re: Some interesting results after heavy tweaking
Just a quick progress report: Tweaking unit move values seems to have increased the AI's aggression. Stacks mixing vehicles and infantry move around more effectively than before, attacking in circumstances I'm not used to seeing. Promising! Been spending a lot of time filling out and tweaking the un...

Re: FS Noble Armada videogame
I find Starsector to be a lot of fun. I am tempted to make the Fading Suns mod for it, but a lack of artistic talent to draw the ships would make it difficult. Hmm.
When Noble Armada is released, let us know how it is!

Re: FS Noble Armada videogame
I'm struggling to find interest in this game. Gameplay aspects are just too simple for my liking, and the sound effects are uninspiring. Watching that through just makes me think how fun a Fading Suns mod for Starsector could be. Vastly better combat mechanics, fleets aren't capped at four ships, an...

Re: Some interesting results after heavy tweaking
I still use the Hyperion one since it has all the EFS features, which is more helpful for testing gameplay. Later on I'll run a game in Phoenix to see how that fares. As for testing, I've found that hover Engineers are a bad idea for the AI. They build both roads and structures over water, and the p...

Re: Some interesting results after heavy tweaking
Been poking at this again to see where I left off last time. I had spent some time cleaning up the mod, removing extraneous new units and overhauling the starting units each faction has, so it's not as wacky as it used to be with tremendous numbers of high tech units for rebels and the player factio...

Re: FS Noble Armada videogame
Yes, a completed Fading Suns game would be a step in the right direction! Even a simple game like this appears to be.
Hello Kosh, it has been a long time. Nice to see others still dropping by the forum from time to time.

Re: Phoenix discussion
I'm running 0.60.0, is there a way to configure the resolution? I'm on a laptop with 1600x900 max resolution, which cannot accommodate the default 1280x960, so it forces 640x480 instead. Less than ideal, as you can imagine.

Re: FS Noble Armada videogame
Doesn't seem like there's much to the game. Up to eight ships per battle (four per side), very simple system map, fairly bland combat. Hopefully there's more to come as development continues, but so far I'm not intrigued. Perhaps it will serve as a necessary stepping stone to more Fading Suns games ...

Re: Some interesting results after heavy tweaking
How to handle these: ⋅ limiting aggression, based on stigmata defence capability, seems the only choice here ⋅ some sort of building and/or maintenance cost for symbiot units could be calculated based on unit stats and some sort of allowance could be calculated based on how many...

Re: Some interesting results after heavy tweaking
I do enjoy these descriptions of what happens during AI testing. Most promising. The stock AI for Symbiots was pretty good in EFS, at least once Hyperion figured out how to let them produce new units. They happily invade anything they can and will try to reinforce any Symbiot units that crop up on o...

Re: Editor for FLC
Years back I used a different method to make new FLCs, but couldn't remember how I did it earlier this year when I got back into EFS modding. I searched around and found a very helpful tutorial in an Emperor Wars thread. Credit to Disk Failure's post here . For the sake of convenience I've attached ...
