Nice algorithm. I'll use it. But I'm reluctant to add r to Hex, as it's just for local temporary use. I can put r in a parallel queue instead: I was thinking the algorithm would then have more general use with r recorded and returned as part of hex. But if there is no need for such an algorithm the...

(Note: I had to split the post into two since for some reason the forum software choked on my post as a whole) Am I correct in thinking that the newly created Phoenix folder contains both the repository and a set of source files, so I can edit those source files, but no change is made to the reposit...

I can't easily see the algorithm in HexProc. The advantage with Breadth first search (and HexProc, what a name ...) is that they record the distance r of hex from a central hex, which is needed in eg. spotting calculations. And actually, that algorithm which you use in the modifications you sent to...

3. I'm confused about the way you handle the game object. Various methods outside Game need access to game data (including DAT tables). I see that HexProc and Battle store a reference to the game. I assume that's so you don't need to keep passing it as a parameter. (This will be important to me if ...

Phoenix announcements

Hi, (since Richard and I are now flooding the "exe replacement" topic under "Fixing it ourself" with development messages and since Phoenix is perhaps starting to look like a proper clone/remake I will open this thread to announce new releases of Phoenix.) Phoenix releases can be...

P.S. When I suggested having a static getter for GUI.game, I meant that the GUI.game field would be static too. I'm assuming the program will only be handling one game at a time! Well this is talking about vaporware but I have ideas for the AI where you have a copy of the game object which will run...

*HarvestResourcesAtCity: handle missing hexes near upper and lower edges of map ? That one's OK. Oh, sorry, I meant to compensate for the smaller number of harvestable hexes for cities near the upper and lower edges of the map. When the map ends there will be no more hexes for the city harvest. Com...

When you're ready, let me know if you think you're going to use my code. If so, I'll carry on for the time being, and I'll co-ordinate my work with you. There are a couple of things I'd like to discuss before continuing. Otherwise, I may do a bit more just for the sake of some more practice with Ja...

...we seem to be flooding the forum :) Well, I would just as soon use email, if that suits you, though some people might enjoy reading our discussions here. It suits me, although somehow I would prefer to post here :? On my machines with 4GB or more memory I have had no problems with new threads, b...

Hi again. I'm having great fun with NetBeans. I just wish I'd installed it sooner, as it would have made life so much easier. I'll check out git soon, but in the meantime I've emailed you a zip file. I've added randomization of camo to my new Unit constructor, but not to your old one. I pass Game a...

Hi flowerpot. (Is that what I should call you?) Nice to hear back from you. Hi, I'm a bit paranoid about sharing my details in public, sorry, so yes, flowerpot it is. Altough it gets a little confusing since flowerpot was taken at github.com and gmail.com so I picked joulupunikki as my nick there. ...

Hi there. I'm Richard Wein, co-creator of Nova. I haven't looked at EFS for a good few years now, but I occasionally drop in to the forum to see what's new. When I saw you were thinking of re-implementing EFS from scratch I was skeptical, but now that I've downloaded your program I'm very impressed...

v0.8.0 and source code

Hi, well I ended up banging my head against a couple of walls but finally managed to do the necessary things. Version 0.8.0 (switched to semantic version numbering) is out and at this point I also decided to publish the source code. Don't be too critical of the coding quality :) The link to the site...

Here's the new gal: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8obui3yz8l1n1o9/GALAXY.zip Okay, thanks. I think that does it. Using your test galaxy I tried moving a stack in the big lump of hospitals on test/pandemonium and found out that on a 3.4Ghz quadcore with 1280x1024 window and on a 1.6Ghz dualcore laptop w...
