Re: Help with map modification
The game has always treated markers as a kind of city. You will find that rebel aircraft sometimes wind up on them for refueling purposes and you can bombard the markers into non-existance from orbit given the right conditions (a foot unit on the marker). If allocated to a house I suppose they could...
Re: progress
Macroz: Thats one huge diagram :) Any chance you can make a higher level one so its easier to get the general idea at a glance? The Darkmage: At a rough guess the size of the save game will be determined more by the sheer amount of stuff unit-wise in the game. Everything else takes up a constant amo...

Re: Offering code minion.. I mean student
By themselves they don't and that's mainly because we have the exsiting EFS as a springboard for the general design.
It's more a list of features than anything else.
I look forward to those design docs

Re: Music for the ripped Underdogs download
They are audio tracks (literally) so you have to record and convert them with whatever program you prefer.
Media Player can do it, iTunes can do it, depends on what format you want.

Re: EFS Remake?
Hi Tango and welcome to the forum! The EFS Clone project was started in an attempt to rebuild EFS 'our way' - fix the flaws, make some improvements and generally produce a better game without changing the way it plays excessively. The forum for it is still here, as is the main achievement we made - ...

Re: EFS Intro video
Someones already tried to convert it then and may have used a codec you don't have (DivX?).
If you can find out what codec was used you can get it!

Re: windows xp
If installing from CD there are two setup stages, one for DirectX and one that comes after it. Try, in order: AUTOPLAY.EXE SETUP.EXE _ISSETUP.EXE I think the first runs the second and the third is the actual install. There are other posts on how to setup the CD registry entry under 2k/XP to actually...

Re: EFS Intro video
They are in bink format, and you can play them through the SMACKPLW.EXE file in the EFS directory.
Or you can download the latest version of radtools, it has a player included.

Re: Music for the ripped Underdogs download
They are audio tracks and their names are stored in the CDLIST.txt file in the EFS directory. You can pop the CD into an audio player, skip the first data track and listen to them :) It's called a 'mixed mode' CD and many older generation games use them whilst newer ones tend to use digital formats....

Re: Have I done something wrong...
That's their stats, no problem there. Are you using a random galaxy? If so then that's why you start with those units, game uses the same unit slot for both your initial units and what it uses to populate ruins and rebel planets with. Sometimes you're given them in pre-made maps, though you probably...

Re: New Member Here
Welcome Budo, Kosh already covered pretty much everything - the only official patch is 1.4, which did fix a number of bugs you may have had if you never patched it (all CD's were version 1 I believe). As for a sequel we do know that Holistic has the rights to do one, we also don't think that'll happ...

Re: Some modding questions..
The best person to answer your questions would be those building current mods - Hyperion (Matt), Subversion (Tiberius) and ShockRoman (Shocker), however I can deal with a few of them anyway :) 1. Units are part of groups, each group has a max of 5 usable/buildable units and I think a 6th which can o...

Re: Music for the ripped Underdogs download
Technically yes it is illegal to distribute them, it's also illegal for the underdogs to distribute the game unless they have permission. What would be nifty is if Holistic Design released the music in MP3 (or other) format on their website. You'd have to play the music in the background but it'd st...

Re: Hyperion install
As an additional note if you already have an EFS install (that works) you can simply copy the entire directory elsewhere (under a different name) and then install Hyperion onto the copy. This lets you play the original EFS, Hyperion, Nova and any other variations at the same time :) - Deathifier
