Re: progress

Ah well there hasn't been much progress really, unless someone is working in secret without telling me...

If someone is working on anything EFS 2 related could you please let me know?

Re: Are there any other ways to play multiplayer besides PBE

The best we could probably do for 'internet' multiplayer connectivity would be to create a separate application that players connect to each other through, then run EFS and when player 1 finishes their turn it automatically sends it off to player 2 and so on. Basically it eliminates the e-mailing as...

Re: The game screen is like, 4 inches wide in the middle of

I believe the game runs at 640x480 which, for a notebook, is probably somewhat smaller than its native resolution (usually greater than 1024x768). It would appear that the laptop is simply running at 640x480 and not attempting to modify the image to fill up your entire screen - hence a box in the mi...

Re: Still having problems w/ Win XP installation

The intro video, as well as any other video played in the game are in the root directory of the CD with a .SMK extension. Also in that directory (and in the EFS installation directory) is a program called SMACKPLW.EXE Just drag the movie onto the EXE in explorer and it'll play. The movies will, by d...

Sounds interesting, something more than buy/sell and blow up would be a nice addition to agoras :)

Upping the tithe skim is supposed to make the church unhappy, however since it's not going to make the church declare war on you there really isn't much of a penalty for raising it.

Re: ARTIFACTS

Relic effects are hardcoded into the game, the best you can do for modding purposes is rename them. Each one has a specific area of effect - either the galaxy as a whole, the planet it is on or the stack it is in. None of the relics affect maintainence costs, though there is one that gives you a tax...

Re: Some Wild Ideas from a Hazat Dervish

Lord High Admiral, Shells sound a lot to me like stacks that are simply grouped and moved by default (without needing to select each individual unit). In that sense, yes I think something should be added as it'll definitely make stack management easier. The whole leader thing is a neat idea, and the...

Re: Has some questions

Heya, Good to see another person around :) The idea behind the clone is to basically recreate the game as we have it but in a form that lets us tweak features, increase modability, improve the AI and generally improve in small ways upon the game. What was the reason behind doing this (curious)? The ...

Re: Decompiler

Macroz is right, decompilation of binary code doesn't work anywhere near as good as you might think. This is particularly the case with C++ where you have little, if any, chance at recovering classes and the like. As such I don't think a C++ decompiler actually exists. A few C decompilers do exist, ...

Re: Mind Elemental - Fix to Crash!

I play Hyperion almost exclusively against the AI, though it's more vs the non-house players since they start out and tend to remain very tough opponents to invade (and sometimes they do a decent job of assembling nasty space stacks). To make the house AI's a viable opponent you'd need to beef up th...

Re: Game Scale

I belive the scale has already been discussed a few times, quite early on in fact - try a search for scale and take a look at some of the results it returns. Always good to have additional input though! Supply has been talked about briefly as well, and isn't likely to play a part. - Deathifier

Re: How does the PBEM work?

Vice, Not much point playing PBEM with just 1 player, though you can play with less than 5 and have the AI take over the other slots. If you'd like to get a game organised head over to the Opponents wanted forum and post there. Edit: Ah, I see you already found that forum :) BTW there's an edit post...

'Geocities' and 'screwed' fit together perfectly :) What's probably happening is Geocities (along with more or less every other major free hosting place) blocks incomming requests for images (and sometimes other files) unless the referrer is from within geocities (or, possibly, blank). Angelfire is ...

I'm surprised that they managed to navigate all the way to reply to this specific post and yet didn't even say something simple like Hi :)
