Re: Progress?
You sure sound confident :) . What have you been up to before? Perhaps it was you who just finished coding MOO3? :) . Well, if you get so far that graphics becomes the biggest problem, I'm sure there'll be enough helping hands so that it will be a non-issue :) . May the Pancreator bless thee with lu...
Re: Progress?
Welcome to the crazy bunch. Who wouldn't want to write such a game? If anyone can pull it off, respect .
I'll certainly read whatever you can gather, Deathifier. Feel free to drop my crazy ideas out. I have replaced them with even more outrageous ideas .

Re: New game
I would guess there are more interested people but they're either hiding or just so busy with life like me ... which does not get any better when I eventually begin my Master's thesis later this spring

Re: Stacking Limits within the New EFS
Well if I remember correctly they use some sort of spores to get you under control. Then again the host might have been specifically engineered by the symbiots so then it would not be as simple. I guess it would be so hard to capture them that it's not worth it in the game. I can check it even thoug...

Re: More FLC's Added
Sure, just make the image layers available in some format so I can tweak them separately. Perhaps pick some you like least first?

Re: More FLC's Added
I'm not promising much since there's beta-testing coming and I've got my school work but this is the kind of work one can do at nights too . Mail me whatever ideas, needs or material you have and I'll start up my GIMP. I like the practice

Re: Stacking Limits within the New EFS
Yes, but also remember that we can now bombard Kansas from DC and this is a futuristic game with futuristic tech, maybe only one or two hexes away, but the unit would have to advance to this unit to capture it (not destroy it, as why would you destroy a unit only capable of long range combat while ...

Re: More FLC's Added
Ok, you asked for it ;) . They look slightly copy & paste :p . Well, the Marauder pics look best, very good I would say, but the others could probably use a bit more touching so the colors of the background would be reflected in the unit instead of the units being just gray with white highlights...

Tech levels
I haven't been able to acquire the Fading Suns RPG rulebook so I only have a vague idea about the tech levels in the game. Could somebody with the aforementioned book or some other suitable source briefly outline what the different tech levels represent, please?

Re: Where does Everyone Stand?
Well, since my summer vacation started in the middle of May I've been working and also did the planet test (see the thread). Also a couple stabs at features (see those other threads). I code and design things all the time and I have partly been designing what I feel is the perfect game. I would be s...

Re: Spies and Covert operations
My View(tm) is something like this: There is not just one type of spy unit. All spies can move around undetected (or maybe appear as rebels or something else when they so desire) and can gather all kinds of information like the mentioned production but those units that I would call spies can also st...

Re: Planet testing
Ah the old speed vs size debate, well it took just over a minute on my P3-800. How large are the generated textures? There's the terrain texture which is 1024x1024 RGB texture and takes most time to generate and also the cloud texture which is a 1024x1024 RGBA texture. I tested caching these yester...

Re: Planet testing
I have two concerns with it though - it takes forever to load (warcraft 3 loads faster than that...) It happens to generate the textures for the planet and space (which takes 38 seconds on my Athlon XP 1800+ and seems to take 86 seconds on a 750 Mhz Athlon so scales linearly to clockspeed). If put ...

Planet testing
In the first IRC meeting I said I would test a 3d-view to planets when the summer comes. Well, since Sunday, I now have the first version of such a test that enables viewing of a generated planet and moving units on it (with the simultaneous planning -model). The approach is two-fold: there is a pre...
