Hello everyone!

Postby jedik77 » Sun Oct 09, 2005 7:05 pm

Hi there!

Well, I just ran into game called "Emperor of the Fading Suns" in Gamespot's "History of space empire games". I was intrigued and decided to get the game. After that, I downloaded version 1,4 and got the Nova 2,3.

Because I'm new, I have just one question: where do I start? I mean, the game looks pretty complex... And very interesting!

What are the best guides or manuals for the game (can I learn to play Nova 2,3 update with a manual for original EFS)?

EFS 1,4 version and Nova 2,3 are the latest versions, right?

In "other stuff" section of Nova page, there is a link to Holistic's background of EFS - what's the difference beetween the computer game and the original, (RPG?) one?

Thanks for the answers!!!

I'm eager to master it!

(P.S. Sorry if I missed the forum...)

I'm not sure about manuals, but you can master it by playing!

There's a FAQ at this address:

http://www.the-spoiler.com/STRATEGY/Holistic.design/emperor.of.the.fading.suns.1.html

which will provide a lot of info regarding the original game. Nova obviously has numerous differences, but the FAQ is a good supplement to the manual and will help you understand the game better.

Another mod--Hyperion--had a tutorial which walked you thru a number of turns. It was specifically designed for Hyperion, so it would be of limited value for other versions of the game. Unhappily, Hyperion seems no longer to be available--the links to it don't work. If anyone knows anything about that, they could inform us.

Getting into the game can be daunting, but EFS is so intriguing that it's worth it.

Yeah, that's the link I've run across, and it worked some time ago when I downloaded Hyperion, but it hasn't taken me anywhere for months, at least, so it seems to be no longer functioning.

Thanks for the answers!

One more thing - where can I get intro and other movies (if any) and soundtrack?
I searched for this topic but couldn't get an answer...

Cheers!

I've found something here: neogamer's stronghold - efs downloads, but I was not able to download anything - I get access denied when accessing their FTP server (probably my firewall) ?

Anybody who would be succesfull in downloading of these files, could drop me a PM ?
