Im getting the feeling that labs require and use trace ?
Am i going nuts ?

Hehehhe.
Okay ,heres why i "think" they do.
Every once in a while,when i notice something odd,i create a save game called "test" and play for a while just to see the "odd" thing occur and explore it.
Well, one of these was based on labs.I noticed that if i took over too many labs ,the amount of buildings reporting no trace went up.This was interesting so i played around some.I discovered that if i took over enough labs ,a message saying i had lost techs becauase i didnt have enough resources to support my labs would come up.I found that i could do this enough to eliminate ALL of my techs.
Now the only resource shortage i knew of was in trace.
I also found that if i raised tax towards 100%,this always occurred soon after.Agian ,the only resource that would be run out seemed to be trace.As it was the only resource with no real reserve quantity.
At first i thought that this second occurance was because of buildings rebeling.But the buildings still showed me as the owner.

Hmm, i been thinking on this. I cant remember seeing it, but I think they can.
I do know in the game im playing now,one of the houses is at war with itself according to the allaince chart.

i have a feeling rebels from a ruin attacked rebels on a farm on midian. i havent noticed any presence from other houses on the planet, or their ships moving around those worlds

I have certainly been informed that the Rebels are at war with the Rebels. I've never been sure how seriously to take that. But probably some rebels wandered into a ruins and triggered an ambush by other rebels. These rebels have a loyalty of zero, unlike those that are present at the start of a game.

i think this happened, and then the rebels from the ruin captured a rebel farm on the planet...
