Hawkwood's noble has been assassinated
And...unless he already has 2 nobles on byz2 already, he is restricted from the next election as well because any landing of a new noble will be AFTER this election:
29. A noble may not vote unless he has been on the surface of Byzantium continuously since the previous election. He is banned from voting even if he took off and landed again in the same turn. If a noble is allowed to stay in orbit or jump around the surface of Byzantium, it's too easy for him to avoid assassins. You can consider this rule to be a statute of the Imperial constitution.

The way I interpret the rule is that I'm allowed to land another noble at any time I want, but I can only cast votes if he was there from the previous election. That means I can't vote in this upcoming election. I probably shouldn't have left him so vulnerable, but I actually didn't really care whether he was assassinated at this point in the game or not.

Ok, we've clearly got our turns mixed up in some way. This is still the same turn that I saw my noble get assassinated. I played this turn some time ago and sent it on to Garison. That means my next turn should be in the year 5005, not 5004. Somewhere along the line it has become mixed up. I suggest everyone check the last turn they played. I can resend Garison the 5004 turn if necessary, but I'm not replaying my 5004 turn.
