FS Noble Armada videogame

Postby Kosh2 » Sun Feb 11, 2018 1:07 am

Noble Armada: Lost Worlds. A new Noble Armada Game for PC (and perhaps smartphone/tablet too) announced in 2017
(update: 2018-09-13: game released today)
I read (at least twice)about a future Noble Armada videogame, but, AFAIK, till now any of them were released:
  • First the PC game, after some years of development (since 1998 or 1999, there were a beta demo in year 2000) cancelled in 2004
    viewtopic.php?f=7&t=779
  • Later the mobile game (iPhone/iPad and Android) announced in 2011
    viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1028
last news about that was AFAIK a YouTube video uploaded by Andrew in march 2015
  • This new Noble Armada Game for PC (perhaps the same 2011 announced game, modified?)

I've asked Andrew about how similar is this FSNA PC game with the mobile game proposed in 2011. And he replied.

Doesn't seem like there's much to the game. Up to eight ships per battle (four per side), very simple system map, fairly bland combat. Hopefully there's more to come as development continues, but so far I'm not intrigued. Perhaps it will serve as a necessary stepping stone to more Fading Suns games in the future?

I agree isn't the strategy game many of us prefer.
And isn't even as completed as the NA PC game cancelled in 2004. But if that means it will be finished is good news :D
And I think it could be the necessary stepping stone @Eightball Maniac said (BTW; pleased to meet you again,Eightball , after some years)

Yes, a completed Fading Suns game would be a step in the right direction! Even a simple game like this appears to be.

Hello Kosh, it has been a long time. Nice to see others still dropping by the forum from time to time.

But seems there are life in FS words (including NA) :D
At least we have this prposed NA game, and Phoenix EXE replacement (updated in 2017), and the Emperor Wars mod (updated in 2016) and proyectop o new RPG books.

I'm struggling to find interest in this game. Gameplay aspects are just too simple for my liking, and the sound effects are uninspiring.

Watching that through just makes me think how fun a Fading Suns mod for Starsector could be. Vastly better combat mechanics, fleets aren't capped at four ships, any number of factions can exist at once, etc.

I find Starsector to be a lot of fun. I am tempted to make the Fading Suns mod for it, but a lack of artistic talent to draw the ships would make it difficult. Hmm.

When Noble Armada is released, let us know how it is!
