Emperor wars?

Ok, in the emperor wars (which this game is based off) What historically happens? I have heard of the Decados and Hazat invasions of Byzantium II, but those failed and stuff. But it seems like Li-Halan and Al-Malik didn't really fight that much in the emperor wars, the most interesting times as well.
