Does anyone know of a tool to edit the FLC files?
Tiberius changed some FLC files in the Fulcrum mod, so I know it is possible.
I have been play testing a mod I call Shock Roman.
- Early Game = WW2 units
- Mid Game = Advanced units beyond today's tech
- Late Game = a mix of Star Wars units and others
I want to change the FLC files for Star Destroyers, Death Stars, etc.

I use an old version of Animation Shop, which seems about the only way to do EFS FLCs. Get it here.

Re: Editor for FLC
https://www.gimp.org/
I have GIMP 2.8.10 installed on Win7 and it seems to be able to open, edit and save AA88GRID.FLC and AFIGHTER.FLC. However, the first frame of AFIGHTER.FLC was blank when opened and the saved FLCs fail to loop in EFS1.4, they just go thru the set of frames once and then show the last frame so something is not quite compatible between GIMP end EFS FLCs, also I'm no GIMP expert, I mostly used it for viewing files.
I have not looked very deep there, as the FLC playing in Phoenix is not implemented at the moment, it just shows the first frame which is more or less a PCX image.
I might also mention here that the BIN files can be read into GIMP by selecting File->Open, All images -> All files, Select File Type -> Raw image data, Open, Image Type -> Indexed. Set offset and height and width. Trying to select a palette at this point does not seem to work, so just Open with the trippy graphics. What you need is the EFS palette in GIMP format. It is here. (edit: actually, you can get the colormap into GIMP by loading an EFS PCX file ...) Put this in C:\Users\name\.gimp-2.8\palettes. You may need to restart GIMP for the palette to register. Then select Colors -> Map -> Set Colormap -> Palette -> EFS1.4. Click OK.
Eg. PORTRAIT.BIN with offset=150000, width=250 and height=200 should show Alexius Hawkwood.
You may have to insert the saved raw images into the original BIN files manually.

A concerned warlock gives you 3 technologies to even your odds against the other houses, and disappears into the wilderness. Of course, he may have a favor to ask you in the future...
Re: Editor for FLC
Thx for the feedback everyone.
I tried Animation Shop and it worked.
Any advice on how to get the color palette right for an imported picture?
I will play around with exporting pictures to paint shop tomorrow.

Re: Editor for FLC
Years back I used a different method to make new FLCs, but couldn't remember how I did it earlier this year when I got back into EFS modding. I searched around and found a very helpful tutorial in an Emperor Wars thread. Credit to Disk Failure's post here.
For the sake of convenience I've attached the palette file to this post for you. Enjoy!
