Multi-User Dungeons (MUD) - //there are lots of websites dedicated to this line, can't choose any major or special// - the best online text RPGs I ever seen, based on The Lord of Rings or Forgotten Realms universes.
Do I like science fiction? Sure! But only a bad one!...

You should try the Gondor battle of the lost realms at our site. Fantasy strategy with lots of diplomacy and some rpg thrown in.

Only problem is that there is no GUI yet. That is how I stumbled upon this game. looks interesting!

Good thing is that the Gondor is growing and allows loads of players into one game. New game starts end of this month. Current games use 40 and 60 positions. Hope to pass 100

What do I like about Project Entropia?

Mainly the fact that when I do something it has real value so it feels like I'm always making progress.

There's also freedom - if I don't want to play for a month, 2 months, 4 months it doesn't cost me anything.

And when I get tired of playing I can sell all my accumulated goodies, cash out and actually make a bit of a profit, legally ;)

For the most part it's fun too, though sometimes the developers choices can be a bit... trying.

So how much do you need to get started?
Whats the game about? Is it real life emulation? Or futuristic?

How much do you need to get started?

In theory, nothing. There are some activities anybody can carry out (mainly collecting stuff worth little to nothing in raw value) and then sell the proceeds of these activities to others.

That takes a while though (weeks, months :/).

In practice, hmm, US$20 will get you enough to test everything out and, depending on your luck, should last a month or two (or more).

Don't expect to get rich though, it's more likely that your funds will be slowly eaten away over time.

Paints a bit of a bleak picture I know, but it seems to be the current state of affairs - the game can easily frustrate you, but it can just as easily make you very happy :)

Setting is Futuristic.
Basic background is:
Humans send out Robots to find and Terraform planets.
Humans arrive.
Robots go beserk and kill humans.
Humans kill Robots.
Robots come back from another solar system nearby and attack humans again.

At this point we get thrown into it :)

Doesn't emulate real life very well, of that I'm fairly sure.

Except at the moment the space component is very limited :)

All the action happens planetside, or on a space station in orbit and the actual gameplay is not tied very strongly to the background anyway.
