HDI to bring Noble Armada to mobile devices

Postby Alehkhs » Sat Aug 27, 2011 6:05 am

I thought this was awesome news. And there's even been mention of an interest in doing a remake of Emperor of the Fading Suns...

Holistic Design Inc. today announced plans to release HDI’s classic Noble Armada space combat game on iPhones, iPads and Android devices. Noble Armada initially grew out of HDI’s “Fading Suns” roleplaying game and “Emperor of the Fading Suns” (EFS) computer game, and the mobile game, titled “Fading Suns: Noble Armada,” allows players to fight out classic battles from the other games or create their own.

“Players loved the grand strategy of Emperor of the Fading Suns, and especially the ability to battle it out on planets all around space. The Noble Armada miniatures game then let them play out the grand space battles from EFS. The mobile game lets us build on that even more, with players able to quickly build fleets, battle for dominance, and even able to play extensive campaigns for control of space,” said Andrew Greenberg, lead designer on Fading Suns: Noble Armada.

The Noble Armada miniatures-based starship combat game allows players to create their own ships or field existing ones. Players maneuver their ships to deliver destructive broadsides or close with the enemy for boarding actions to conquer the enemy craft. First released in 2000, players take on the roles of Hawkwood nobles, Decados pilots, freebooting pirates and more as they sail between the stars. In 2011, Mongoose Publishing released a new version of the game titled, “Noble Armada: A Call to Arms.”

“It’s been great seeing a resurgence of interest in Noble Armada with the Call to Arms edition,” Greenberg said. “Mongoose has been releasing new fleets, hosting tournaments and more. The Fading Suns universe creates a great backdrop for all kinds of games, and we look forward to the mobile game adding to that list of very fun games.”

Holistic Design, Inc. is an Atlanta-based game development company that publishes award-winning computer, roleplaying, live-action and miniature games, as well as fiction. Its computer games include Emperor of the Fading Suns, Mall Tycoon, Merchant Prince, Warhammer 40K: Final Liberation, and more.
